Craig, a founding partner of the firm, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996. Having worked in a senior role at a large regional practice, Craig established Davies Tracey with Ian Tracey in 2002 with the remit to provide advice and assistance to owner managed businesses.
Craig is responsible for a diverse portfolio of clients including small owner managed businesses to larger companies and groups. Craig is a statutory auditor and provides assistance and guidance on acquisitions, disposals and reconstructions. Craig brings over 20 years’ experience to his clients and works closely with them to ensure that they fulfil their ambitions. Clients benefit not only from being in a safe pair of hands for their accountancy requirements but a pro-active approach to support their business.
Craig has been a director of Davies Tracey since he joined the firm in 2012, having previously been a partner in another leading local practice for 11 years. He spent the first 10 years of his professional life at one of the “big 4” accountancy firms, KPMG, with whom he qualified after graduating from Durham University.
Craig works mainly with larger corporate clients, delivering audit, tax and advisory services, and he prides himself on having a close working relationship with all his clients, helping them achieve their goals. Craig is a senior statutory auditor and member of the ICAEW Audit & Assurance, Financial Reporting and Corporate Finance Faculties. He also has many years’ experience in the not for profit and educational sectors and is a past Chairman of the Teesside Branch of the ICAEW.
Lindesay joined Gilchrist Tash in 1975 shortly after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, and was a leading figure in that firm for over 30 years. Lindesay then became a Director with Davies Tracey in 2012, working with an extensive client base of corporate and non-corporate businesses.
Since 2017 Lindesay has used his considerable personal and business tax knowledge, and specific interests in the effective use of IT, to support the business as a Consultant.
Ray joined Davies Tracey in 2013 and brings with him a wealth of experience from a portfolio of accountancy firms. Ray qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987 with Walkers Chartered Accountants. Ray rapidly progressed and became Managing Partner in 1996 and supported the firm’s growth to become the largest independent firm in Tees Valley.
In 2002 Walkers joined Vantis Plc, a National Accountancy (Ranked 13th largest Accountancy firm in UK). Ray was appointed Location Director with responsibility for the performance of staff in all of the Northern Offices. In 2010 he led the buyout of the north east operation and was one of the founding members in the formation of Evolution LLP.
Ray also holds several other positions in the region:

Outside of work, Ray’s interests include most Sports, Everton FC (season ticket holder), learning French and Ballroom Dancing.
Chris joined the firm in 1991, after graduating from Sheffield University with a degree in mathematics, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995.
Chris has an enviable range of skills gained from working with a wide range of clients over many years. His workload centres around providing accountancy, auditing and taxation advice to a broad range of clients including corporate and non-corporate businesses, together with charities, not for profit organisations and pension schemes. Chris believes that timely delivery of financial data and assistance in understanding it are an essential component of client service and he is responsible for the provision of regular management information to a number of clients.
Kevin joined the firm in July 2008 and has obtained invaluable experience working for several small accountancy firms over a 25 year career.
Kevin is able to bring his wealth of experience in a wide range of business areas to the accountancy service team and advises on all the charity-based assignments conducted by the firm. Kevin is a key member of the team providing specialist services to our Barrister clients, ensuring they receive specialist guidance on all key issues to efficiently manage their financial needs.
Geoff has been with the firm since July 2008 and is ACCA qualified as of June 2014. Geoff is involved in the corporate and accountancy services provided by the firm along with dealing with Solicitors accounts rules work.
Geoff has extensive knowledge of Sage bookkeeping and works closely with our clients’ staff for all training requirements, supporting them to run their business finances efficiently.
Diane manages a portfolio of manufacturing, professional services and small business clients, supporting their accountancy needs. Diane acts in a business advisory capacity to help sustain businesses with current challenges as well as growth ambitions.
Diane took up the role of Client Partner in November 2017 and with over 30 years’ experience in senior management roles working for accountancy firms, has a great reputation for reliability and customer service.
Stuart joined the practice in 2015. He is AAT qualified and has over 15 years’ experience working for various firms on Teesside.
Outside of work he is a season ticket holder at Middlesbrough Football Club, and also a keen runner.
Louise joined the Davies Tracey accounts team in October 2014.
With a background in accountancy practice, Louise’s role involves the preparation of accounts for sole traders and Limited companies.
Oliver joined Davies Tracey in 2014 and became AAT qualified in 2017. Oliver is continuing his professional development and is now studying towards his ACCA qualification.
Oliver’s role includes preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies as well as preparing VAT returns.
Niall joined the Davies Tracey accounts team in September 2017 after beginning his career at a Sunderland based accountancy firm. He gained a BA(Hons) degree in Graphic Design in 2011 and became AAT qualified in 2018. He is continuing his professional development by studying towards an ACCA qualification.
Niall’s role at Davies Tracey focuses on accounts production work for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. He has also been integrated into our audit team that has a range of business clients.
Niall is a keen golfer.
Keir joined us in August 2018 as Accounts Trainee. Keir will work towards becoming AAT qualified over 3 years with Davies Tracey, studying for his assessments and developing on-the-job skills with the support of the whole team and particularly Diane.
Keir’s apprenticeship is with Gateshead Football Club, and he currently plays for Easington Colliery FC in midfield, so when his head’s not in the books you’ll find him on the pitch!
Karen joined us in June 2019 as Accounts Senior.
Karen brings with her 20+ years of accounting experience, and has spent the majority of her career in a Teesside practice with responsibility for accounts preparation and tax returns.
Karen is a part-qualified Chartered Accountant with a degree in Mathematics, and is looking forward to meeting all Davies Tracey staff, clients and colleagues.
In her spare time Karen enjoys keeping fit.
Andrew joined the Davies Tracey accounts team in 2016 having started his career in accountancy in September 2009 working for a firm based in Middlesbrough. He became AAT qualified in 2013 and is continuing his professional development by studying towards ACA qualification.
Andrew’s role at Davies Tracey focuses on audit work for a range of business clients as well as the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies and joins our expanding team to support the needs of our diverse client base.
Karen joined Davies Tracey in 2017, with a strong background in management accounts and bookkeeping. She is now our Bookkeeping Manager.
Splitting her time between the Bookkeeping and Payroll Teams, Karen is AAT qualified and focuses on payroll, bookkeeping, management accounts and year end accounts. She has particular knowledge of our smaller business clients, and enjoys that her role keeps her up to date with all aspects of accounting.
Outside of work, Karen is a big football fan.
Anne joined Davies Tracey in 2015, coming from another Teesside-based Chartered Accountants – Duffy Pedersen & Co Ltd.
Anne has expertise in Sage, QuickBooks, and Kashflow, and through these provides a full range of bookkeeping services to our clients.
Outside of work, Anne is a keen gardener.
Joanne joined Davies Tracey in 2017, with a strong background in bookkeeping having worked for a successful Teesside company. As part of our Accounts Team, with qualifications in Sage bookkeeping, Joanne ensures that clients’ financial records are correct, up-to-date and comprehensive.
Outside of work Joanne runs 3 Latin inline dance classes and occasionally teaches Salsa and Bachata.
Sarah brings over 10 years’ experience in the payroll sector and is a key member of the payroll team.
She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, and gained a foundation degree in 2012.
Marika has recently joined our Payroll team, bringing with her a great deal of payroll experience.
As Tax Partner, Ian’s remit since joining Davies Tracey in 2018 is to head up the tax and payroll departments.
Ian was formerly a Director at Baldwins Accountants, and is a taxation specialist with over 33 years’ worth of experience from starting his career with the Inland Revenue before entering private practice. Ian manages a portfolio including individuals subject to expatriate and non-resident taxation, high net worth and complex clients and handles HMRC enquiries and investigations. In addition, he assists and advises people who, for whatever reason, have fallen behind with their tax compliance obligations, helping to bring closure. He is also Secretary of the Wolters Kluwer Northern User Group, with expertise in software for accounting practices for the benefit of firms and their staff using the software and, of course, their clients
Rachel joined the firm in 1996 and is a key member of our team, having successfully dealt with a wide range of our clients over the years.
Dealing primarily with smaller businesses, Rachel particularly enjoys spending time helping business owners with the running of their businesses. Comfortable dealing with both incorporated and unincorporated businesses, Rachel is expert in the preparation of management accounts using different types of accounting software, especially Sage. Rachel’s broad knowledge of the tax issues effecting smaller businesses has proved very useful to business owners over the years as they plan ahead.
Louise is AAT qualified and has been in practice since 2009, joining the firm in October 2015 and is a member of the tax team. As a member of the tax team, Louise prepares personal and partnership tax returns and deals with day to day tax correspondence and advice.
Jackie has over 30 years of secretarial experience gained at various firms including an Estate Agent, Insurance Loss Adjuster and Solicitors. Before joining Davies Tracey in June 2008 she also worked locally as a Teaching Assistant.
As our Office Administrator Jackie’s role is varied and makes regular use of her qualifications in typing, audio typing, and IT.
Lucy started her career in accountancy straight after gaining her A-Levels aged 18. Her professional development continued through obtaining a Business Administration NVQ Level 3 followed by various bookkeeping qualifications.
As a part-time receptionist at Davies Tracey since 2012, Lucy ably assists with clients’ paperwork, drawing upon her skills gained having worked in other local accountancy firms, both in a busy typing pool and an Insolvency department where she was responsible for client accounts and Insolvency meetings.
Alison brings over 20 years expertise from roles gained in large accountancy firms. She also has worked in sales and customer service roles within the motor industry.
Alison is a key point for liaison for clients in connection with fees and will be happy to answer any questions regarding your account.

Mandy joined Davies Tracey in 2014 after working in banking for 17 years.
She also has experience of working as a secretary in civil engineering and at a loss adjusters, and brings this vast experience to her role as Office Administrator, and is responsible for new client set-up and processing, client liaison to ensure a smooth handover to relevant team members, and wider administration duties where her organisational skills prove invaluable.
